The Ohio State University Hosts the 5th Annual Injury Biomechanics Symposium
The Ohio State University’s Injury Biomechanics Research Laboratory is in the process of receiving papers and posters for consideration for presentation at the Fifth Annual Injury Biomechanics Symposium to be held May 18 – 19, 2009, at The Ohio State University. The conference is intended to stimulate and reward strong injury biomechanics research among students and recent graduates. Ten oral presentations will be followed by discussion periods to allow interactive and constructive dialogue on the content of the presentations as well as on current research challenges facing the medical and automotive fields. Attendees can expect original biomechanics research in a forum intended to foster communication between developing and established researchers. The symposium tone will be set by a keynote speech by Guy Nusholtz of Chrysler. Speeches by respected members of biomechanics research fields will follow. Submissions from students and recent graduates in all areas of injury biomechanics research, such as human subject testing, sports injury studies, crash safety evaluation, and anthropomorphic dummy research will be presented. A poster session of ten current research topics will complement the oral presentations. The previous Injury Biomechanics Symposiums brought together students and academia from numerous universities and a large complement of attendees from various industries worldwide. A welcome networking reception, along with an evening awards banquet, will round out the symposium and provide time for presenters and attendees to mingle with academia and industry. The Dr. Margaret H. Hines award will be given to the authors of the top presentation and poster, and their respective universities will also receive a grant.
